%X Before trying to design a recreation program for rural elderly residents, it is first necessary to look at basic programming assessment variables within a "rural" context. The variables of availability, awareness, accessibility, and acceptability are examined and their implications for addressing the recreational needs of the rural elderly are discussed.<p />
