%X This study describes marital violence committed against wives working in the academic sector in Medan, Indonesia. Male dominance favored by the patriarchal culture has influenced the responses of women. The violence documented is comparable with that experienced by women in other countries. The study also suggests that marital violence is found across socio-economic groups.<p />
