%X This paper is a review of statistical techniques for extreme values. First, the classical methods based on the extreme value distributions are discussed. The Weibull distribution is an example. Then, some more recently developed techniques based on exceedances over a threshold are presented. We conclude with some examples of applications of threshold methods, and some comparisons with classical methods.<p />
