%X Plant accounting systems generate equipment failure data with unknown scale when equipment prices are unknown. Here it is shown that maximum likelihood estimation is possible with such data, and that the equipment price factor is estimable. The statistical distribution of the price-estimate will be known from the Pearson-Fisher theorem, leading to various test statistics. The results are applied to actual failure data with unknown scale.<p />
