%X This article examines how quality and safety can be measured in port operations to reflect the needs of stakeholders. The authors investigate issues related to quality and safety within the port industry to then relate them to Greek ports in particular. Quality should include the performance areas of efficiency, timeliness, and safety and security, as all areas are integral to port performance. In order for Greek ports to be competitive, key issues related to port performance need to be addressed, such as safety, integration, leadership, and communications.<p />
