%X Driver inattention is a very significant but often neglected road safety issue. In terms of its contribution to the social cost of road crashes, it far outweighs the contribution of drink driving, speeding, fatigue or non-use of seatbelt. This paper explores some of the common behaviours associated with driver inattention with respect to their perceived crash risks, rates of self-reported behaviours and whether drivers regulate such behaviours depending on the road and traffic environment.
