%0 Journal Article %T Childhood injury: a prevention model for intervention %J Education and treatment of children %D 1986 %A Jones, Russell T. %A McDonald, Dan %V 9 %N 4 %P 307-319 %X This paper describes the potential impact of a prevention model on reducing unintentional childhood injuries. Following a review of major childhood injuries and related risk factors, a complementary prevention model is elucidated. This model borrows heavily from prevention, behavioral, and community psychology frameworks. An application of the model is presented using fire emergency skills as an example. The advantage of this model over previous models is explored.
