%X The incidence of nonfatal intimate partner strangulation (NF-IPS) is an underrecognized phenomenon within the health care system in North America. In their article in this issue, Patch et al undertake a large database population review of coded episodes of strangulation identified from the International Classification of Diseases (ICD) codes from the Nationwide Emergency Department Sample database.
