%X The athletic movements made by a horseman when riding at a walking pace, trotting and galloping, and when jumping are described. An account is also given of the involvement of the limb muscles and the torso, and the marked differences in this respect between a beginner and an expert rider. The conclusion is drawn that equitation is primarily a postural sport that nonetheless demands close coordination of the actions of the upper and lower limbs with the distribution of the weight of the rider's body.
Language: en
