%X Suicide attempts are frequently a serious symptom of personality disorder. Pseudoattempts are more common in younger immature age groups and in females; out of 1000 births 10 men and 3 women commit suicide. Alcoholism is a precipitating factor in 40% of the cases, as is inability to work. Suicide is discussed in relation to cultural and economic environment, marital status, religion and psychiatric diagnosis. Hospitalization rather than jail, with individualized psychiatric follow-up study should be carried out on such individuals. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2016 APA, all rights reserved)<p />
