%X Impalement is an uncommon injury. In 1890, Madelung described impalement as combining aspects of both blunt and penetrating trauma, and reported a case in which a blunt foreign body penetrated the abdominal cavity. We present a case of impalement in which the brake pedal of a car penetrated the pelvis as a result of a motor vehicle accident.<p />
