%X Two of a series of 12 planned auto-pedestrian impacts were singled out for advanced presentation of findings. A combination of new and previously devised techniques of experimentation were applied to provide for a controlled impact of several specially instrumented anthropometric dummies, ranging in size from toddler to adult. A 30 m.p.h. impact by a passenger car was repeated in like manner for a 30 m.p.h. impact by a truck. In addition to rather detailed application of electronic transducers and associated instrumentation, the use of 30 special photographic devices assured obtaining a comprehensive record of the complex activities under study. Impact magnitudes, kinematics and displacements of struck pedestrians are presented in context with the two types of impacting vehicles.<p />
