My perspective differs from Cushman's in viewing the APA's collusion as fundamentally a failure of moral action, as opposed to a failure of moral reasoning; in questioning the value of a hermeneutic perspective as offering a way of forestalling such ethical disasters; and in questioning the role that a relationally refashioned psychotherapy can play in the "remoralization" project he calls for.
