N2  - In this paper researchers discuss both car use and car ownership demographics in large cities in East Asia. By implementing a regression analysis, researchers attempt to determine the effect of urban transport policy on these rates as well as to determine dynamics using feedback looping diagrams at a macro-level. It was discovered that policy measures at the political level affect car use rates more greatly than car ownership rates, both of which are also dependent on Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) availability in the cities. Empirical measures in the form of an index are determined and presented to aid politicians in the implementation of MRT systems for proper timing given the growth of the cities in question. Authors note that such timing is critical as it will determine the effectiveness of MRT’s effect on car use rates.<p />
