SP - 1056 EP - 1060 VL - 13 IS - 11 N2 - Available evidence implicates alcohol consumption as a major risk factor for almost all types of injury. An exceptionally strong relationship is noted between alcohol and motor vehicle accidents--particularly single-vehicle crashes. Recognition of the association between alcohol and trauma is important not only for proper care and for treatment of the underlying alcoholism, but to stimulate enactment of preventive measures aimed at reducing the risk of alcohol-associated injuries.
