TY - JOUR PY - 1988// TI - Abuse and victimization: a life-span developmental perspective JO - American journal of orthopsychiatry A1 - Newberger, C. M. A1 - De Vos, E. SP - 505 EP - 511 VL - 58 IS - 4 N2 - A conceptualization of coping and adaptation following victimization is presented from a life-span developmental perspective. Recovery is characterized as an evolving process of interaction among three dimensions: social cognition, environmental sensitivity, and emotional-behavioral functioning. The model is illustrated through an individual case study and through an approach to research on outcomes of sexual victimization.
