TY - JOUR PY - 1993// TI - Elevated lead levels in reportedly abused children JO - Journal of pediatrics A1 - Bithoney, W. G. A1 - Vandeven, Andrea M. A1 - Ryan, Amanda SP - 719 EP - 720 VL - 122 IS - 5 Pt 1 N2 - Children suspected of having been physically abused had significantly higher venous blood lead levels than a comparison group (p < 0.0001). Abused children were 27-fold more likely to have lead levels > 0.965 mumol/L (20 micrograms/dl) (odds ratio = 26.7). We recommend that abused children be monitored for lead intoxication more frequently than other children.
