N2  - The article reviews the responsibilities of the Special Inspection for Electrical Medical Equipment, STEM, with emphasis on investigations of accidents and near-accidents in connection with the use of technical equipment. It stresses the obligation to report to STEM immediately. The reported accidents for the period 1980-1988 are given in table 1, and are discussed.
