N2  - The prevention of injury is the focus of road safety. Injured people are the focus of trauma management, which itself is largely directed to prevention of secondary additional effects from injury.    This paper provides a history of the work of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) in promoting major advances in road safety and best practice road trauma care since 1965. The Royal Australasian College of Surgeons presents views as to the future of road safety and collaboration with governments and bodies such as the Australasian College of Road Safety.
