In advanced countries it has been observed that poisoning deaths are mainly due to the cleansing agents, detergents, cosmetics and other substances. In India agro-chemicals dominate poisoning. As Punjab is the food bowl of country so here insecticides and other agro-chemical fertilizers are used to a greater extent than in some other areas and are responsible for causing the majority of the poisoning mortality and morbidity.
