N2  - A correlational study of the suicide rate in Swiss cantons in 1990 failed to identify statistically significant social correlates of the suicide rate. However, taking a purely statistical approach, a set of nine social variables was identified which accounted for 74 percent of the variation in the suicide rates of the cantons.<p />
