TY - JOUR PY - 2009// TI - Family violence in the view of forensic psychiatric assessment JO - Polski Merkuriusz Lekarski A1 - Juszczak, Dariusz A1 - Talarowska, Monika A1 - Golinowska, Danuta SP - 478 EP - 480 VL - 27 IS - 162 N2 - An increase family violence has been observed in the recent years. It is believed that numerous psychosocial and psychobiological factors constitute the origin of family dysfunction. THE AIM OF THE STUDY is to answer the question, which psychosocial and psychobiological factors determine the family violence [physical or(and) psychological family abuse]. MATERIAL AND METHODS: The analysis of 82 assessments issued to persons who committed a punishable offence against the family violence. These assessments constituted one of fourteen separate offence categories (581 assessments) for which, using the adequate statistical tools, a correlation with other variables, as listed in the "Charter of Diagnosis of Factors Determining Criminal Activity", was evaluated. RESULTS: Relevant statistical dependences were observed. CONCLUSIONS: Family abuse is conditioned by many variables. The main psychiatric diagnosis for family violence offences are alcohol dependence and organic personality disorders.
