TY - JOUR PY - 2006// TI - Analysis of traffic accident trends in Japan and predictions for the future JO - Review of automotive engineering A1 - Hamada, M SP - 145 EP - 150 VL - 27 IS - 1 N2 - To date, numerical formulas for predicting trends in traffic fatalities have used the number of vehicles and total population as the main factors. This paper attempts to predict the trend in fatalities by means of numerical formulas that describe the relationships between decreases in traffic fatalities and three factors that influence these decreases: the social environment, vehicles, and human beings. This technique is then used to predict the number of traffic fatalities for the year 2020.
