TY - JOUR PY - 2006// TI - Influence of physical workloads on driving performance JO - Review of automotive engineering A1 - Asao, T A1 - Wada, T. A1 - Doi, S A1 - Tsukamoto, K SP - 361 EP - 364 VL - 27 IS - 2 N2 - The effect of physical workloads (PWL) on the driving performance was investigated. The PWL were classified by the distance from the normal driving position to the target and the operational strategy for reaching the target. The lane keeping ability during driving on a curved road was measured with PWL on a driving simulator in order to investigate the influence of PWL on driving performance. The PWL were classified by operational strategies for reaching the target and the position of the target. The accelerator, brake pedal and steering wheel were connected to the computer by encoders, and the traffic scene was calculated by the computer based on driver operation. The results of the lane keeping experiments show high correlations between the car deviation index and the body movement index of the left shoulder and left wrist position.
