N2  - Subway injuries are devastating, with young victims and a high mortality and amputation rate. This report identifies the urban population at greatest risk for subway injuries, looks at the influence of a local economy on injury rates, and proposes the use of changes in social conditions as a trigger for increased vigilance and protective measures at times of higher risk.</p>
