N2  - This paper presents a rationale for institutional staff members, particularly those working in nursing homes, to exercise greater awareness of the need for communication interactions with the elderly patient. Negative staff attitudes directed toward geriatric patient care are discussed and related to a listing of the generally acknowledged reasons for such perceptions.<p />
