SP - 63 EP - 71 VL - 6 IS - 4 N2 - In conjunction with the increase in the segment of the population we label elderly, experts have observed an increased incidence of senility and dementia. Researchers have found increasing evidence to support the contention that Alzheimer's disease is the single leading cause of dementia in the elderly, although onset can occur at younger ages. The authors apply several principles for enhancing the quality of life for the client and caregiver alike through leisure activities. By simplifying activities employing regular physical activity, and using leisure counseling techniques the practitioner can improve the lot of the Alzheimer's family.
