TY - JOUR PY - 1978// TI - The age and sex distribution of casualties involved in various forms of road transportation in Nigeria JO - Journal of traffic medicine A1 - Asogwa, S. E. SP - 27 EP - 30 VL - 6 IS - 2 N2 - The age and sex distribution of casualties involved in various forms of road transportation shows that the young adult male is the most at risk of all age groups, with the exception of the 5 to 9-year age group, where there is a female preponderance. The peak age group observed was 25-29 years. The difference between male and female pedestrian casualties was much less than sex differences observed in other forms of transportation. Possible explanations for these differences are given, and the implications of this wastage of human resources on whom national prosperity depends in a developing country like Nigeria are discussed.
