TY - JOUR PY - 2010// TI - Clinical effects of red-bellied black snake (Pseudechis porphyriacus) envenoming and correlation with venom concentrations: Australian Snakebite Project (ASP-11) JO - Medical journal of Australia A1 - Churchman, Andrew A1 - O'Leary, Margaret A. A1 - Buckley, Nicholas A. A1 - Page, Colin B. A1 - Tankel, Alan A1 - Gavaghan, Chris A1 - Holdgate, Anna A1 - Brown, Simon G. A. A1 - Isbister, Geoffrey K. SP - 696 EP - 700 VL - 193 IS - 11-12 N2 - RBBS envenoming caused local effects, systemic symptoms, anticoagulant coagulopathy and, uncommonly, myotoxicity. One vial of tiger snake or black snake antivenom appears to be sufficient to remove venom and neutralise reversible effects, but hypersensitivity reactions occurred in over a third of patients.
