TY - JOUR PY - 1995// TI - A survey of road traffic trauma in China JO - Journal of traffic medicine A1 - Zheng-Guo, W SP - 71 EP - 76 VL - 23 IS - 2 N2 - Based on an analysis of the parameters provided by the Traffic Administration Bureau, the Ministry of Public Security, this paper presents that in the recent 40 years, the road traffic accident (RTA) and road traffic trauma (RTT) has continuously increased by 30-350 times or more. The death rate per 10,000 vehicles showed a tendency to decrease significantly (from 137.64 persons in 1951 went down to 27.27 persons in 1993), but is still much more than that in the developed countries (less than 5 persons). However, the death rate per 100,000 people showed a tendency to increase (from 0.15 person in 1991 went up to 5.29 persons in 1993), but is less than that in the developed countries (greater than 7.7 persons). It is obviously related to much less mean possessed amount of automobiles per person in China. After an analysis of some epidemiological factors in RTT, it is suggested that in order to reduce RTA and RTT a comprehensive treatment would be necessary, thus being able to better regulate the balance of the 'man-vehicle-road' system. The key measures, however, are to improve the safety sense of all road users and to let everybody follow the traffic regulations.
