N2  - This paper gives a step-by-step procedure for connecting to a Cummins electronic control module and extracting any potentially useful data relating to an accident reconstruction. Three connection methods are introduced: in cab, on engine, and bench top. A complete list of required hardware and software is provided. Future papers will detail how to extract data from other engine manufacturers.<p />
