TY - JOUR PY - 2008// TI - Highway 99 Soundwall JO - California transportation journal A1 - Gallup, Erin SP - 5 EP - 5 VL - IS - 2 N2 - This article describes a 2,500-foot-long soundwall along State Highway 99 near Yuba City, California designed to mitigate current and future noise levels. Because the area was historically devoted to fruit production, the wall itself was built of brick in different shades to look like fruit trees were growing out of the wall. In addition, the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) planted oak trees and native grasses in front of the wall. Construction of the decorative wall and landscaping cost about $325,000.
