N2  - In order to help bicyclists riding on Highway 1 in Mendocino County, California, the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) and the Redwood Community Action Agency installed three-inch square decals that display universal symbols for camping and food, distance and services, along with the mileage to reach those services. The demonstration project also provides directional service to cyclists riding the Pacific Coast Bike Route, which extends the length of the state. The decals were created using Carsonite delineator paddles, which are typically used to mark the edge of pavement. Feedback from cyclists has been good.<p />
