TY - JOUR PY - 2010// TI - EDR Module Types and Collision Data Available in CDR Supported Vehicles JO - Collision: the international compendium for crash research A1 - Veppert, Chuck A1 - Little, David SP - 104 EP - 107 VL - 5 IS - 1 N2 - Electronic modules such as airbag control modules, powertrain control modules and rollover sensors can store many types of information, but accessing this information can be difficult and time-consuming. In many accident investigations, it might not be useful or cost-efficient to access the available information. The types of information stored also vary depending on the type of module on the vehicle. This paper describes a database that was established to link each vehicle covered by a crash data retrieval system with its module type and the data that the module may contain. Using the database, the accident investigator needs to know only the make, model and year of the vehicle he is investigating. Entering this information into the database allows the investigator to establish the module type on the vehicle and the data that that particular module is capable of storing. The investigator can then make a decision if the stored information is worth accessing for that particular investigation.
