The system's light-rail vehicle is its most visible aspect and contains many modern, innovative features, many of which are unique in the United States. This 70% low-floor vehicle, designed to reflect the needs of the specific operating environment found in Phoenix (high temperature and a high level of street running), contains many technical improvements over similar vehicles and is described in some detail.
