TY - JOUR PY - 2010// TI - Human response in navigation emergency situation JO - International journal of vehicle safety A1 - Barsan, Eugen A1 - Hanzu-Pazara, Radu SP - 75 EP - 85 VL - 5 IS - 1 N2 - This paper underlines the assessment results of some specific bridge resource management scenarios, focused on emergency navigation and cooperation between bridge and engine room teams. This type of training is undertaken at managerial level. In the scenarios that will be analysed, the own ship was a VLCC full loaded, navigating in shallow waters. The main event simulates a small fire at the electrical circuits on the bridge, followed by loss of remote control to engine and steering systems. Consequently, the trainees must cope with the emergency and in a combined effort deck and engine room teams have to manoeuvre the VLCC towards a safety anchorage place.
