TY - JOUR PY - 1993// TI - Variable visual acuity for a driver model JO - Vision in vehicles A1 - Juergensohn, Thomas A1 - Wolter, Thiess-Magnus SP - 213 EP - 219 VL - 4 IS - N2 - The Human-Machine Systems Group at the Technical University of Berlin is working on the implementation of an overall simulation of the driver, vehicle and the environment. The driver's part of this model, called "Vehunculus", is divided into several modules. One of these modules is the visual system which is able to simulate information processing taking into account the variability of visual acuity as a function of location within the visual field. It is shown how to use the rendering process of a graphic workstation to achieve a filtering effect. Comparison with neurophysiological findings shows the similarity between the "technical" solution and the properties of the human visual system.
