TY - JOUR PY - 1981// TI - A critical view of countermeasure development and evaluation JO - Proceedings International Council on Alcohol, Drugs and Traffic Safety Conference A1 - Wilde, G.j.s. SP - 1145 EP - 1159 VL - 1981 IS - N2 - This paper consists of three parts. First some of the major methodological difficulties associated with the evaluation of the effect of countermeasures focussing upon alcohol-related accidents will be discussed. This is followed by a critique of the rationale underlying legislation and the application of the laws which attempt to combat drinking and driving. Finally, an effort will be made to indicate ways in which the difficulties in both of the above areas may be overcome through the stimulation of public concern for road safety. (Author/TRRL)
