TY - JOUR PY - 1981// TI - Alcohol and the risk of accident involvement JO - Proceedings International Council on Alcohol, Drugs and Traffic Safety Conference A1 - McLean, A.j. A1 - Holubowycz, O.t. SP - 113 EP - 123 VL - 1981 IS - N2 - Blood alcohol concentrations (bac's) of drivers involved in casualty accidents in metropolitan Adelaide were obtained in the course of an in-depth study and also by police and hospital personnel. Bac's of control drivers were obtained by means of breath tests administered without the assistance of the police while the drivers were stationary at red traffic signals. The controls were matched by age and sex and by the time of day, day of week and location of the accident. The association between BAC and the risk of accident involvement was found to be similar to that from the Grand Rapids study. (TRRL)
