N2  - A batch screening system incorporating tlc, gc, mass spectrometry and radioimmunoassay is described together with its possible advantages and disadvantages. A survey of drugs and driving cases for 1978 is presented with reference to previous surveys and the types of biological sample analysed. The high incidence of drug abuse in "drugs and driving" cases and the future approach to such cases in the light of increasing case loads is discussed. (TRRL)<p />
