Accident scenarios are often preceded by pre-crash phases where muscle responses can be expected. This study presents road tests (VDA lane change and sinusoidal test track) including comparison between the overall kinematics of the dummy and the human subject as well as EMG measurements. The test results show that dummies are not able to predict the response of human occupants during pre-crash phases. The EMG data for human subjects reveal muscle activation patterns that can be interpreted with respect to the acceleration of the car.
