TY - JOUR PY - 1995// TI - Injury mechanisms for pelvis fractures of nearside occupants in lateral car impacts and influences of deformation characteristics JO - Proceedings of the International Research Council on the Biomechanics of Injury conference A1 - Otte, Dietmar A1 - Pohlemann, Tim SP - 403 EP - 420 VL - 23 IS - N2 - In this study 1,556 nearside seated occupants in isolated lateral collision were analyzed. Thirty-five persons suffered pelvic fractures, and 13 occupants femoral fractures. In the paper the biomechanics of pelvic fractures is described including the biomechanics of femur as part of pelvic load in relation to delta-v (speed change), intrusion and vehicle deformation characteristics. The lateral deformation was measured and characteristics reproduced in a 3-dimensional view correlating to the injuries.
