N2  - A simple low-cost mechanical accelerometer capable of recording only the effective peak value of a car deceleration pulse has been designed and tested. The device will be field tested for use as a crash severity indicator for frontal impacts. For this purpose a large number of these devices will be incorporated into rear facing child seats to be used in a loan program starting later this year. (Author/TRRL)<p />
