TY - JOUR PY - 1984// TI - The problem of leg injuries in motorcycle riders. A literature survey, a descriptive study of the outcome of motorcycle riders leg injuries supplemented by some results from an accident study JO - Proceedings of the International Research Council on the Biomechanics of Injury conference A1 - Nordentoft, E.l. To elucidate the state of affairs of crash protection of motorcyclists legs, and to describe the nature and size of the problem, the following studies have been carried out: (1) a comprehensive study of the literature on the protective effects of motorcycle crash bars; (2) a study of the frequency, nature and outcome of significant injuries to motorcyclist's legs and (3) a study of the use of crash bars and the influence of these items on the injury patterns in an accident population. Some of the results of these studies are presented. (TRRL)
