In the first part, motorcycle helmets are tested in regard to carbon dioxide retention to determine whether the helmets meet the requirement concerning carbon dioxide concentration stipulated by the Swedish National Board of Occupational Safety and Health. In the second part, the interactive effects of an external dead space and exercise on the partial pressure of the carbon dioxide in the body on performance are studied.
