N2  - Trauma patients are predominantly young men. Urban trauma patients frequently are uninsured, and often are victims of intentionally inflicted penetrating injury, usually caused by firearms. Substance use is a common underlying factor in both urban and rural trauma. This article introduces urban and rural patients.
