TY - JOUR PY - 2003// TI - A comparison of social cognitive and psychosocial predictors of alcohol use by college students JO - Journal of college student development A1 - Kuther, T. l. A1 - Timoshin, A. SP - 143 EP - 154 VL - 44 IS - 2 N2 - The relative contributions of social cognitive (alcohol-related outcome expectancies, alcohol-related self-efficacy, norms) and psychosocial factors towards predicting selfreported alcohol consumption were assessed in a sample of 206 college students. Social cognitive variables accounted for 76% of the variance in self-reported alcohol use, suggesting that alcohol use may be a reasoned decision by college students. Implications are discussed.
