SP - 1174 EP - 1180 VL - 25 IS - 8 N2 - Background: Emergency room (ER) studies have found differences in the association of alcohol with injury (intentional and unintentional) across cultures. These differences may be due to differences in drinking patterns across cultures. Few comparative data have been reported on associations of alcohol and injury between Mexican American ER patients and ER patients living in Mexico, and general population studies suggest that Mexican Americans may adopt more frequent heavy drinking patterns after migrating to the United States.
