N2  - Forgiveness, a beautiful, virtuous and honorable theological concept has, at times, been a stumbling block to healing and justice for victims, and has colluded, albeit unintentionally, in perpetuating the scars of violence and creating a few of its own. This article surveys traditional Jewish views of forgiveness and repentance. It defines these concepts and elucidates the need for reconciliation, reparations, healing and justice as prerequisites for forgiveness.<p />
