TY - JOUR PY - 2000// TI - The Supreme Court: An Overview JO - Policy, politics and nursing practice A1 - Mech, Ann SP - 101 EP - 103 VL - 1 IS - 2 N2 - The structure and jurisdiction of the U.S. Supreme Court is outlined in Article III of the U.S. Constitution. The justices who comprise the Supreme Court today were originally appointed by Democratic and Republican presidents over the past three decades. Despite the opposing ideologies of the presidents who appointed them, these justices are increasingly moving to more centrist positions in their judicial opinions. During the 1999-2000 term, the Supreme Court will hear a number of cases with health policy implications, ranging from regulation of tobacco as a drug to allowing health maintenance organizations to be sued.
